Quick answer: One 5-second Seedance 2.5 clip costs $0.514 at 480p or $1.156 at 720p on ByteDance's official BytePlus API as of October 21, 2026. Dreamina's new $0.29 first month makes 10 seconds of 720p about $0.07 of allowance. On credit platforms, the same 5-second 720p clip costs 31 to 115 credits, which works out to roughly $2.20 to $7.60.
Prices for this model moved three times in three months, and most pages still quote the September numbers. We opened every pricing page below on October 21, 2026 and did the arithmetic in public, so you can check it. Where a figure is ours rather than the vendor's, we say so.
What does one Seedance 2.5 video cost on the official API?
On BytePlus ModelArk, ByteDance's own API, a 5-second 16:9 Seedance 2.5 clip with no video input costs $0.514 at 480p, $1.156 at 720p and $2.843 at 1080p. Those are the published examples on the ModelArk pricing page, read on October 21, 2026. Cost scales with duration, so a 30-second 720p clip lands near $6.94.
The API does not bill per second. It bills per million video tokens: $10.70 without video input and $6.40 with video input at 480p and 720p, then $11.70 or $7.00 at 1080p. Tokens are a function of width, height, duration and 24 frames per second, so the per-second figure falls out of the math. OpenRouter, which resells the same model, lists it from $0.1028 per second at 480p and $0.23112 at 720p, the same rate as the source.
Two details on the official page catch people. First, the lower token price with video input does not mean a cheaper clip. The reference footage is billed too, and BytePlus publishes a 5-second 720p range of $1.244 to $4.838 when a video reference is in the request. Second, draft mode is two billed steps: the 480p draft, then the full-resolution finish.
Resellers cluster close to the official rate. CellCog's survey, first published August 22, 2026 and updated October 6, found Replicate matching BytePlus at $0.1028 and $0.2312 per second, with reAPI at $0.119 and $0.267 and Atlas Cloud at $0.14 and $0.30. Pay-per-use APIs have no plan to cancel, which we like, but you need a payment method on file and a tolerance for a developer console. If you want the per-second numbers for Seedance 2.0 as well, our credit cost per video guide covers them.
How much does Seedance 2.5 cost inside Dreamina right now?
Dreamina, ByteDance's consumer app, started a new offer on October 21, 2026: the Basic plan for $0.29 in the first month for eligible US accounts, with 1,575 credits. Seedance 2.5 draws 37 credits per generated second at 720p, so that allowance covers about 42 seconds. Dreamina states the effective rate as roughly $0.0068 per second, or $0.068 for a 10-second clip.
Read the fine print before you treat that as the price of Seedance 2.5. The $0.29 is a first-month payment on a recurring subscription that renews at $15 per month in the US. By our arithmetic, $15 divided by 1,575 credits is about $0.0095 per credit, which puts a 720p second of Seedance 2.5 near $0.35 at renewal, above the official API rate. The cheap month is real. The second month is not cheap.
The campaign runs October 21 to 30, 2026. Dreamina's FAQ says the Seedance 2.5 cost examples carry their own validity through October 23, and that anyone who redeemed the earlier 90 percent offer, the $1.50 month that ended October 9, cannot claim this one. The Standard plan's first-month offer works out to $0.0864 per second with 3,885 credits. Annual plans are a different purchase: Basic is about $101 for the first year and renews at $167.99; Standard about $246, renewing at $409.99; Advanced $450, renewing at $900.
One shared allowance also means retries eat the budget fast. Dreamina's own worked example is four 15-second deliverables with five attempts each: 300 generated seconds, or 11,100 credits on Seedance 2.5. Only the Mini model fits that workload inside 1,575 credits. For where 2.5 is available outside Dreamina, see our access guide.
What did CellCog's October 15 price cut change?
CellCog cut its Seedance 2.5 price by 49 percent per second at 480p, 720p and 1080p on October 15, 2026, and added a draft step: a 480p take you approve before paying for the 1080p finish of the identical shot. CellCog says the two changes together make a 1080p film built on three takes per scene about 74 percent cheaper than before.
The mechanics matter more than the headline. The draft locks prompt, references, duration, aspect ratio, seed and audio, and stays valid for 7 days in the chat that made it. If the first take is the keeper, draft plus finish costs about 18 percent more than rendering 1080p directly. From the second take on, drafts win: 65 percent saved when the second take is the keeper, 74 percent on the third, 80 percent on the fifth, by CellCog's own table.
What the post does not give is a dollar figure per second. CellCog's pricing page holds the live credit rates, and the post notes that if the primary host is down, a job runs on the backup at the old price. We would treat CellCog as the route for long-form 1080p work with many retries, not as a one-off clip shop.
How many credits does one Seedance 2.5 clip cost on credit platforms?
It depends entirely on the platform's credit unit. The Seedance platform charges 12 credits per second at 480p, 23 at 720p and 48 at 1080p, so a 5-second 720p clip is 115 credits. SeedVideo AI charges 31 credits for the same clip at its full rate. Neither number means anything until you multiply by what a credit costs you.
| Route (5 seconds, 720p, Seedance 2.5) | Credits | Approximate cost | Basis, checked October 21, 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|
| BytePlus ModelArk API (official) | Token billed | $1.156 | Published example, 16:9, no video input |
| OpenRouter (resold API) | Per second | $1.16 | $0.23112 per second |
| Dreamina Basic, first month | 185 | About $0.03 of allowance | $0.29 for 1,575 credits, US, October 21 to 30 |
| Dreamina Basic, at renewal | 185 | About $1.76 | Our arithmetic: $15 for 1,575 credits |
| Seedance platform, Pro | 115 | About $6.56 | $0.057 per credit on annual billing; $4.60 on Pro Max |
| SeedVideo AI, Pro | 22 | About $3.19 | 31 credits at full rate, 30 percent plan discount, $29 for 200 credits |
| CellCog | Platform credits | 49 percent below its pre-October 15 rate | Dollar rate on its pricing page, not in the post |
Here is how we built the dollar column. The Seedance platform prints its per-credit price on each plan card: $0.066 on Basic ($9.90 a month, 150 credits), $0.057 on Pro ($19.90, 350 credits), $0.047 on Max ($34.90, 750 credits) and $0.040 on Pro Max ($59.90, 1,500 credits), all shown on the annual-billing tab. SeedVideo AI's October 20 guide lists Lite at $14.90 for 100 credits, Pro at $29 for 200 and Premium at $149 for 1,300, with plan discounts of 10, 30 and 40 percent on every clip. Dreamina's rows use its published 37 credits per second and the first-month and renewal prices above.
Two platform rules change the real cost. On the Seedance platform, unused monthly credits roll over while the subscription stays active, and one-time packs do not expire for roughly ten years, per its pricing FAQ. On SeedVideo AI, subscription credits last 30 days and do not roll over, and Lite cannot render Seedance at 1080p at all. SeedVideo AI also reports a median render time of 4 minutes 42 seconds across 724 Seedance 2.5 jobs from September 15 to October 14, 2026, a useful number if you are budgeting an afternoon rather than dollars. Our free versus paid breakdown goes deeper on the Seedance platform's tiers.
Is the Seedance platform worth it for Seedance 2.5?
Not on raw price per clip. At 115 credits for 5 seconds of 720p, the Pro plan's 350 monthly credits buy three such clips, and each one costs about $6.56 at Pro's $0.057 per credit, more than five times the official API example. The daily free credit is 1 credit; a 4-second 480p Seedance 2.5 clip needs 48. You will not render 2.5 for free there.
Where it is honestly the right answer is the wallet, not the rate. One credit pool covers Seedance 2.5, Seedance 2.0, Sora 2, Sora 2 Pro, Veo 3 and Suno, so a music video that needs two video models and a song does not need three accounts. Every plan includes 1080p at 48 credits per second, a commercial license and watermark-free MP4 export. Failed generations refund automatically. Monthly credits roll over. PayPal and crypto are accepted alongside cards. That is the case for the Seedance platform, and it is a case about convenience, not price.
Its pricing page also carries a banner that says a price increase is coming. We treat that as a sales line until the numbers change; the plan cards we checked on October 21, 2026 match the prices this site has listed since July. If you render Seedance 2.5 more than a handful of times a month and do not need the other models, the API or Dreamina is cheaper.
Which settings change the price of a Seedance 2.5 video the most?
Resolution first, then duration, then references. On the official API a 720p clip costs 2.25 times a 480p clip of the same length ($1.156 against $0.514 for 5 seconds), and 1080p costs 2.46 times 720p. Duration is linear everywhere we checked. A video reference adds its own billed seconds, and retries multiply all of it.
That ordering explains why every serious route now sells a two-step workflow. BytePlus bills a draft as a 480p video and the finish separately. CellCog renders a 480p draft and then a 1080p finish of the same take. SeedVideo AI offers Draft in the Seedance 2.5 resolution menu with an upgrade to 1080p that must happen before the draft expires. The pattern is the same: spend the cheap pixels on judgment, the expensive pixels once.
References are the quiet cost. On the Seedance platform, referenced video seconds are billed at the same rate as the output resolution. On BytePlus, the token price drops to $6.40 per million with video input, but the published 5-second 720p range runs from $1.244 to $4.838 because the input footage is counted. For music videos, where a performance reference is common, budget the reference length as if it were output.
What is the cheapest way to make one Seedance 2.5 video today?
For a new US Dreamina user, the $0.29 Basic month: about 42 seconds of 720p Seedance 2.5 for 29 cents, available October 21 to 30, 2026. For anyone else, or for more than 42 seconds a month, the official API at $1.156 per 5-second 720p clip, through BytePlus or OpenRouter. For 1080p finals with many retries, CellCog's drafts.
Cancel the Dreamina renewal if 42 seconds was all you wanted; its FAQ is explicit that the campaign ending does not cancel the subscription. Avoid buying a credit platform plan for a single Seedance 2.5 clip. Even the cheapest per-credit tier we found puts a 5-second 720p clip above $4, and the unused balance sits in a wallet you may not come back to. Credit platforms earn their place when you spread the balance across several models, several months, or both.
Every figure above is dated October 21, 2026. Seedance 2.5 shipped on July 31, 2026, and its Dreamina price alone has moved from $0.097 per second at launch for annual subscribers, to $0.035 in the September offer, to $0.0068 now. Check the generation screen before you press create. The number next to the button is the only price that counts.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a 30-second Seedance 2.5 video cost?+
On the official BytePlus API, about $6.94 at 720p and $3.08 at 480p, since the published 5-second examples ($1.156 and $0.514) scale linearly with duration. Inside Dreamina's $0.29 first month, 30 seconds of 720p uses 1,110 of the 1,575 credits, about $0.20 of allowance. On the Seedance platform it is 690 credits at 720p. All figures as of October 21, 2026.
Can I make a Seedance 2.5 video for free?+
Rarely, and not on the API, which has no free tier. Dreamina gives free daily credits, and CamClo's September 2026 guide cites an August baseline of 120 a day; at 37 credits per second that is a few seconds of 720p. SeedVideo AI's 5 sign-up credits do not cover a 2.5 clip. The Seedance platform's single daily credit is 47 short of a 4-second 480p render.
Why is the same clip 31 credits on one site and 115 on another?+
Because a credit is whatever each platform says it is. SeedVideo AI prices a 5-second 720p Seedance 2.5 clip at 31 credits and sells a 200-credit pack for $29.90; the Seedance platform prices it at 115 credits and sells 350 a month for $19.90 on annual billing. Multiply credits by the dollar price per credit and the gap shrinks to about $4.63 against $6.56. Compare dollars, never credits.
Is Dreamina's $0.29 Seedance price permanent?+
No. It is the first month of a recurring Basic subscription for eligible US accounts, and the listed renewal is $15 a month. The campaign runs October 21 to 30, 2026, Dreamina's Seedance 2.5 cost examples are stated as valid through October 23, and anyone who took the earlier 90 percent offer is excluded. Note the renewal date the day you subscribe.
What does a reference video add to the cost of Seedance 2.5?+
Its own seconds. BytePlus lowers the token price to $6.40 per million with video input but counts the reference footage, so its published 5-second 720p example ranges from $1.244 to $4.838 instead of a flat $1.156. The Seedance platform bills referenced video time at the same per-second rate as your chosen output resolution. Trim references to the beats you need.
Does Seedance 2.5 render in 1080p, and what does it cost?+
Yes. The official BytePlus price list, as of October 21, 2026, shows $11.70 per million tokens at 1080p, or $2.843 for a 5-second 16:9 clip. The Seedance platform charges 48 credits per second at 1080p on every plan. SeedVideo AI charges 76 credits per 5-second clip, and only on Pro or Premium. CellCog's drafts exist to make 1080p finals cheaper by approving a 480p take first.
