Quick answer: No. Suno does not generate full-length music videos. As of October 2026 it has four video outputs: Hooks, which pair a clip with a song; animated cover art of 5 or 10 seconds; a looping video cover of up to 10 seconds; and a song download as a video file. For a full video, use a dedicated video tool.
If you have a finished song in Suno, the natural hope is that the picture can come from the same place. Suno has added more video than most tutorials admit. It still doesn't make what most people mean by a Suno music video: scenes, cuts and a performer that hold across the whole track.
This guide covers what each Suno video feature makes, what it costs, where the limits sit, and the cheapest honest route to a Suno music video you can publish. We built it from Suno's release notes and help pages, two independent tests, and pricing pages checked October 21, 2026.
Does Suno have a video generator?
Only for short clips. Suno can turn cover art into 5 or 10 seconds of motion, but it has no tool that turns a three-minute song into a three-minute video. Its other video features pair a clip you supply, loop a cover you upload, or export the song as a video file.
The dates tell the story. Suno's Hooks launch note on September 22, 2025 said that "Suno doesn't generate the video for you"; you upload your own clip and the platform pairs it with your song.
Generated motion arrived soon after. A creator's write-up dated December 14, 2025 already showed Suno turning a cover image into two short video variants. The July 31, 2026 cover art update added text-prompt iteration that returns either a new still or a video. And Suno's help page on file types, checked October 21, 2026, lists MP3, WAV and video as download options.
So Suno decorates songs with short motion and lets you share them in a feed. It does not storyboard, cut to the beat, hold a character across scenes, or lip-sync a singer over a whole track. Those jobs belong to a video generator and an editor.
What does each Suno video feature actually do?
Hooks pair your own clip with a stretch of your song, animated cover art turns an image into a 5 or 10 second clip, looping video art plays an MP4 you upload as the cover, and video download exports the whole song as a video file. A fifth feature, Scenes, runs the other way: it turns a photo or video into a song.
Labels and credit prices vary between accounts and staged rollouts, so the number on your own Generate button is the one that counts.
| Feature | What it makes | Length | Cost | Added |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hooks (your clip) | A short pairing your uploaded video with a chosen stretch of your song, posted to the Hooks feed | The clip you upload | Free, no credits | Sep 22, 2025 |
| Generated cover video | Motion generated from an image or text prompt, usable as cover art or a Hook | 5 or 10 seconds per generation, Basic or Advanced mode, two variants per run | Credits; 50 for 5 seconds in a Jan 13, 2026 tutorial, 200 for a 5-second Advanced clip in an Oct 1, 2026 test | By Dec 2025; text-prompt iteration Jul 31, 2026 |
| Looping video song art | Your own 9:16 MP4 plays as the song's cover on web and mobile | 10 seconds or less, 720 px tall | Free upload | Apr 21, 2025 |
| Video download | The finished song exported as a video file | Full song | Counts as that song's one download on paid plans | Listed in the help center, checked Oct 21, 2026 |
| Scenes / video as input | A song generated from a photo or video you upload (it makes audio, not video) | Not applicable | Song credits | Oct 16, 2024; widened in v6 on Sep 9, 2026 |
Hooks
Hooks is Suno's short-form feed. You pair a video from your device with any of your songs or remixes, pick the stretch of the song it plays over, and post it for other listeners. Per the launch note it costs no credits.
The catch is in the same note: Suno paired footage, it did not make any. Today the Hook screen can generate motion too. An independent guide updated October 1, 2026 recorded a five-second Advanced clip at 200 credits, with a selectable audio range so the clip can sit on the chorus instead of the first five seconds. On a Pro plan with 2,500 monthly credits, one such clip is 8 percent of the month.
Animated cover art
Animated cover art predates the July 2026 update. A tutorial posted January 13, 2026 shows a choice of 5 or 10 seconds and two variants per run, at 50 credits for five seconds and 100 for ten at the time. The July 31, 2026 update added text-prompt iteration that outputs a still or a short video, across songs, playlists, profile images and banners.
The workflow the October guide recommends, and we agree with: approve the still first, attach it to the song, then animate it with one camera move and one environmental move. Ask for slow, subtle motion, because faces and lettering distort when the prompt asks for too much. The result is a loop that makes the song page look alive. It isn't a scene, and it doesn't know what your lyrics say.
Looping video song art
Since April 21, 2025 you can open Song Details, upload an MP4 of 10 seconds or less, 9:16 and 720 pixels tall, and it loops as the cover on web and mobile. This is the feature to use when you have already made a clip somewhere else, such as a generated shot trimmed to 10 seconds.
Video as input, not output
Suno Scenes, launched October 16, 2024 on iPhone in the US, makes a song from a photo or a video. The v6 release on September 9, 2026 widened that: you can start from text, audio, images or video and turn it into music.
People read the word "video" in that sentence and assume the arrow points the other way. It doesn't. Suno looks at your video and writes a song; it does not look at your song and make a video.
What does Suno not do for a music video?
Suno does not generate scenes for a full song, does not cut to the beat, does not keep a character consistent across shots, does not lip-sync vocals, and does not export a 16:9 timeline for YouTube. Everything it makes is a short asset meant to decorate the song inside Suno.
- No full-length generation. Generated clips run 5 or 10 seconds, and the longest upload is ten seconds. A three-minute song needs 18 to 36 clips at those lengths, and Suno has no video timeline to hold them.
- No lyric sync. Suno does not time words to the vocal or render a lyric video.
- No beat detection for picture. Suno's help center describes Studio as a production suite for stems and samples. It edits audio, not picture.
- No character or scene continuity. Each animated cover is a single image put in motion. There is no reference system to keep a performer's face the same across ten shots.
- No lip sync. The October guide lists scenes that need precise lip movement as weak candidates for animation. Mouths are where image-to-video breaks first.
- Landscape is an afterthought. Video song art must be 9:16, and Hooks are short-form clips for a phone feed. YouTube wants 16:9, so you will be rebuilding in an editor either way.
None of this is a knock on Suno. It's a music model with a social feed attached, and the video features keep a song page from being a static square.
How much does the Suno side cost in October 2026?
Suno's free plan gives 50 credits a day, no monthly downloads and no commercial rights. Pro is $8 a month billed yearly, with 2,500 credits and 20 downloads a month. Premier is $24 a month billed yearly, with 10,000 credits, 60 downloads and access to Suno Studio.
| Plan | Price (checked Oct 21, 2026) | Credits | Downloads | Commercial rights | Video-relevant extras |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 50 per day | No monthly downloads; up to 7 lifetime trial downloads, personal and non-commercial only | No | v6-mini model; upload up to 8 minutes of audio |
| Pro | $8 a month yearly ($10 monthly) | 2,500 per month | 20 per month | Yes | v6 and v6-wild; 2 stem separation types; can buy extra credits and downloads |
| Premier | $24 a month yearly ($30 monthly) | 10,000 per month | 60 per month; no limit inside Studio | Yes | Studio with MIDI, effects and automation; upload up to 30 minutes; advanced stem split |
The pricing page says yearly billing saves $24 on Pro and $72 on Premier, which puts month-to-month billing at $10 and $30.
Two details matter for video work. Under the download rules in force since September 3, 2026, one song counts as one download regardless of format, so the MP3 and the WAV of the same song cost one download, and downloading it again later doesn't count twice. Suno's FAQ also says any song you download as a paying subscriber carries commercial rights. A video built from a free-plan trial download is a non-commercial video.
Credits do not roll over month to month. Animated covers come out of the same credit balance as songs, so if you plan to animate every release at 200 credits a clip, budget for it.
How do you turn a Suno song into a full music video?
Finish the song, download the final version on a paid plan, then build the visuals outside Suno. Use a visualizer or lyric tool if the song doesn't need scenes, or a video generator like Seedance when you want moving characters, locations and a cut that follows the track. Assemble in an editor and export 16:9 for YouTube and 9:16 for shorts.
- Lock the song first. Every extend, crop or section replace changes the timing. Pick the exact generation you will release and copy the lyrics from the song details panel. Displayed lyrics can drift from what the model sang, so listen once with the text in front of you.
- Download on a paid plan. Take the WAV where your plan offers it and the MP3 for quick drafts. One download covers both formats of the same song.
- Generate scenes in short clips. On the Seedance plan we link, Seedance 2.5 renders any whole number of seconds from 4 to 30 in one pass and accepts images, video and up to 30 seconds of audio as references, checked October 21, 2026. ByteDance's Seedance 2.5 page calls it an audio-video joint generation model built for 30-second storytelling. Plan 8 to 12 strong clips keyed to the song's sections rather than wall-to-wall footage.
- Assemble and export. Lay the full song on a 16:9 timeline in CapCut or DaVinci Resolve, cut on section changes, add clean titles, and export at 1080p. Make a separate 9:16 cut for Shorts, Reels and TikTok, then reuse the best clip as your Suno Hook and, trimmed to 10 seconds, your looping video art.
We keep a step-by-step version of this in our Suno song to music video workflow.
Is Seedance the right next step after Suno?
For moving scenes, a recurring character or a singer on screen, yes. Seedance takes the song as an audio reference and generates picture and sound together, which suits the step after a Suno export. For a visualizer or a lyric video it's the wrong tool, and you'll overpay for it.
- Good: audio-aware generation. The plan we link accepts WAV or MP3 references of 2 to 30 seconds, and its own guidance says audio references set mood and timing. An Oakgen guide updated August 2, 2026 treats lip sync as something to check shot by shot; it publishes no accuracy figure.
- Good: price for a short run. The Seedance platform we link lists Basic at $9.90 a month billed yearly for 150 credits a month and Pro at $19.90 a month billed yearly for 350, with watermark-free MP4 export and a commercial license, checked October 21, 2026. The plan cards say yearly billing saves 30 percent against month-to-month.
- Bad: the credit math. The same platform bills Seedance 2.5 at 12 credits a second at 480p, 23 at 720p and 48 at 1080p, so one 5-second 720p clip is 115 credits, and reference-video seconds bill at the same rate. Basic covers about one such clip a month and Pro about three; the advertised 15 and 35 render counts work out to 10 credits a render, which fits a cheaper engine, not 2.5. Yearly plans issue the whole year's credits up front (1,800 on Basic, 4,200 on Pro), so you can spend months of allowance on one song.
- Bad: rerolls. Faces, hands and text go wrong often enough that you should plan on rerolls. If you budget two generations per shot you keep, a Pro month at 720p yields one or two usable 5-second shots.
- Bad: clip length. Even at 30 seconds a clip, full-song continuity is still your job in the editor. Seams between clips are where an AI music video shows itself first.
| Route | Output | Length | Hears the song? | Typical cost | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Suno animated cover | One image in motion | 5 or 10 seconds | Not documented | Suno credits (200 for a 5-second Advanced clip in an Oct 1, 2026 test) | Song pages, Hooks, a quick loop |
| Visualizer or lyric tool | Audio-reactive motion or timed words | Full song | Yes, for timing | Varies by tool | Songs that don't need scenes |
| Seedance 2.5 scenes | Generated shots with sound | 4 to 30 seconds per clip | Yes, as a reference | From $9.90 a month billed yearly; 115 credits per 5-second 720p clip (checked Oct 21, 2026) | Characters, locations, a singer on screen |
Our Seedance credit cost breakdown converts these rates to dollars per second.
Which rights do you need before you publish a Suno music video?
A paid Suno plan at the time you download the song. Free-plan trial downloads are limited to personal, non-commercial use under the download rules in force since September 3, 2026. The video layer has its own license: the Seedance plans above include a commercial license on paid tiers.
Streaming and sharing on Suno stay unlimited on every plan, so a Hook or a looping cover that lives inside Suno never touches your download quota.

Frequently asked questions
Does Suno have a built-in music video maker?+
No. Suno has short-form video features, not a music video generator. Hooks pairs your own clip with a song segment for free, animated cover art generates 5 or 10 seconds of motion from an image for credits, and you can upload a looping cover of up to 10 seconds. A full video for a three-minute song still needs a separate video tool and an editor.
How long can a Suno video be?+
Short. Looping video song art is capped at 10 seconds, 9:16 and 720 pixels tall. Generated cover video runs 5 or 10 seconds per clip, with two variants per run. A Hook is as long as the clip you upload, but it is built for the Hooks feed, not a full-length release. Downloading the song as a video file covers the whole track.
Do Suno Hooks cost credits?+
Uploading your own clip to make a Hook is free and uses no credits, per Suno's September 22, 2025 launch note. Generating motion does cost credits. One independent test on October 1, 2026 recorded 200 credits for a five-second Advanced clip, which is 8 percent of a Pro plan's 2,500 monthly credits. Check the number on your own Generate button before you run it.
Can I put a Suno video on YouTube?+
You can upload the file, but a 10-second vertical loop makes a weak YouTube video. Build a separate 16:9 timeline with the full song, clean titles and a dedicated thumbnail. Also check rights: only songs downloaded on a paid Suno plan carry commercial use, and free-plan trial downloads are personal and non-commercial under the rules in force since September 3, 2026.
Can Suno make a song from a video?+
Yes, that direction works. Suno Scenes, launched October 16, 2024 on iPhone, writes a song from a photo or a video, and the v6 models released September 9, 2026 accept text, audio, images or video as a starting point. This is the feature that causes most of the confusion, because the word video appears in the description while the output is audio.
What is the cheapest way to get a real music video for a Suno song?+
If the song doesn't need scenes, a visualizer or lyric tool. If it does, download the song on a paid Suno plan and generate a few short clips in Seedance. On the plan we link, Basic is $9.90 a month billed yearly for 150 credits, about one 5-second 720p clip a month, checked October 21, 2026. Assemble in an editor such as CapCut or DaVinci Resolve.
