Make an AI Music Video on Your Phone: Dreamina, CapCut, What Breaks

Quick answer: Yes. You can write the song in the Suno app, generate every clip with Seedance in the Dreamina app or CapCut's AI Video panel, cut it to the beat in CapCut, and upload from the same phone. Expect 720p from Seedance 2.5, a watermark unless you pay, no real-face photo uploads, and credits that vanish fast.

Built this way, an AI music video on your phone has six specific failure points. This guide covers the phone-only route as of October 21, 2026: which app to open, what each step costs, and where the chain snaps.

Every price, date and version below comes from a page we opened on October 21, 2026, or carries the date of the document it came from. Prices on both apps vary by country, so treat the dollar figures as the US view.

Can you make the whole music video from a phone?

You can, as long as the song is already a file on the phone and you accept a 720p or 1080p finish. The chain is four apps: Suno for the track, Dreamina or CapCut for the Seedance clips, CapCut for the edit, and whichever platform you post to. Nothing in that chain requires a desktop.

The honest caveat is the quality ceiling, not possibility. Seedance 2.5 generates at 720p on Dreamina in practice, whatever the marketing page says, while Seedance 2.0 is commonly offered up to 1080p (DomoAI, August 10, 2026). CapCut's mobile export only offers 4K when your source clips are 4K (CapCut Help, January 14, 2026). So a phone-made video tops out at 1080p: native for shots made on 2.0, upscaled for shots made on 2.5. For TikTok and Reels that is fine. For a YouTube premiere on a television, it is not.

The second caveat is faces. Seedance refuses reference photos of real people, in Dreamina and through its API, since February 2026 (east.im review, October 18, 2026). The phone app has one sanctioned way around it, a Seedance 2.0 feature called Cast, covered below. To stay off camera, a stylized character or a face-free concept works anywhere; see how to make a music video without showing your face.

Which app gives you Seedance on a phone: Dreamina or CapCut?

Both, and they are the same company. Dreamina is ByteDance's dedicated generator with the newest Seedance model first, and CapCut is the editor with Seedance tucked inside its Media panel. For a music video you want both: generate in Dreamina, cut in CapCut.

Dreamina is a free app with in-app purchases, listed as iPhone-only on the US App Store. Its version notes introduce Cast, "Powered by Dreamina Seedance 2.0," which "lets you create your AI self and co-star with friends," and later entries say only "added more models for image and video generation" (Dreamina on the App Store, opened October 21, 2026). An Android build sits on Google Play under the same name. Seedance 2.5, the 30-second model, reached Dreamina on July 31, 2026 (east.im, October 18, 2026), and the official model page lists 30-second clips and up to 50 reference files (Dreamina Seedance 2.5 page, opened October 21, 2026).

CapCut's own App Store listing says its "AI video feature now supports Seedance, Veo 3, and other models," and it lists Standard at $9.99 and Pro at $19.99 a month (CapCut on the App Store, opened October 21, 2026). The mobile path is Media, then AI Video, then Text to Video or Image to Video, then pick the Seedance model from the menu (CapCut Seedance tool page). CapCut's Seedance 2.0 rollout went country by country from March 2026, starting in Southeast Asia and Latin America (AIbase, March 24, 2026), so the model list you see depends on where your account lives.

One flag on the table: Dreamina's web app and phone app do not update on the same day. Leadde's access guide lists staggered mobile and web updates, and outdated apps, among the reasons Seedance 2.5 fails to appear (Leadde, October 6, 2026). If the model menu in the app stops at 2.0, open dreamina.capcut.com in the phone's browser. Same login, same credits, and the newer model shows up there first.

How do you get the song onto the phone first?

Download it from the Suno app into Files, and do it before you start generating. Since September 3, 2026, Suno caps downloads at 7 lifetime trial downloads on Free, for accounts created before September 3 (newer free accounts may get occasional trial downloads and can buy them), 20 a month on Pro and 60 a month on Premier (Suno, August 10, 2026). Each download counts, so pick the final mix first.

Trial downloads carry no commercial rights, so for a monetized channel, download on Pro or Premier. The file lands as an MP3 or WAV in Files, which both Dreamina and CapCut can read.

Keep the song in two forms: the full track in Files for CapCut's timeline, and short slices for Dreamina's audio references. Seedance 2.5 accepts up to 10 audio clips among its 50 references, and DomoAI reports that the integrations shipping 2.5 typically cap each audio reference at 2 to 30 seconds (DomoAI, August 10, 2026). Upload the section that matches the shot, so the model has the actual music as its reference rather than a generic rhythm.

What does a phone-made Seedance video cost in credits?

More than you expect if you shoot everything on Seedance 2.5. On Dreamina's Basic plan, $15 a month for 1,575 credits (Dreamina Seedance 2.5 page, opened October 21, 2026), an 8-second 720p clip on Seedance 2.5 draws 296 credits, about five clips before the pool is gone. The same clip draws 136 credits on Seedance 2.0 and 64 on Seedance 2.0 Mini (Higgsfield pricing guide, undated; opened October 21, 2026).

At the $15 renewal price, that works out to about $2.82 per 2.5 clip, $1.30 per 2.0 clip and $0.61 per Mini clip, by our arithmetic. A three-minute song at 8 seconds a shot is roughly 22 clips before retakes. Run the same math against each model:

The split that keeps the bill sane: Mini for every draft, Seedance 2.0 for the hero shots if you want a 1080p finish, and 2.5 only for the shots that need a 30-second single take. The free tier's 120 daily credits (Dreamina FAQ, September 10, 2026) cover one 8-second Mini draft a day, which is enough to test a prompt and not enough to finish a video.

Dreamina's guide dated the 90 percent first-month offer September 23 to October 9, 2026, pricing Seedance 2.5 at $0.035 per generated second at 720p (Dreamina pricing guide, September 28, 2026). Its Seedance 2.5 page still showed a $1.50 first month, then $15 a month, when we checked on October 21, 2026. Confirm the price at checkout, and budget for the $15 renewal, not the $1.50 month. For per-clip math across plans, see what a Seedance video costs per clip.

What breaks when you build the video on a phone?

Six things: real-face photos are refused, Seedance 2.5 output is 720p, watermarks can stack, CapCut's phone app cannot sell you credits, the model menu lags the website, and CapCut's export gate flags AI clips. None is fatal. All of them are cheaper to know about beforehand.

Real-face photos are refused

Seedance 2.0 and 2.5 reject reference images and videos that show a real person's face, a policy ByteDance added after studio complaints in February 2026. The refusal arrives before anything is generated, and resubmitting the same photo does not help (east.im, October 18, 2026). Illustrated, animated or clearly stylized characters pass.

The phone app holds the one exception. Dreamina's launch post on May 7, 2026 says Cast lets you "record your own digital avatar" and generate videos starring you (Dreamina on X, May 7, 2026), and its spring campaign told users to get the app from the App Store or Google Play and "Record your digital avatar using Cast" (Dreamina on Instagram, campaign closed May 21, 2026). That is a sanctioned route to your own likeness, announced as an app feature. We have not tested whether Cast clips can be downloaded and cut to your own song, so check that before you plan a video around it.

If you need a real face from a photo, generate in Kling instead. east.im's comparison reports that Kling accepts photos of real people, and the Kling app runs up to 15 seconds at 1080p or 4K (Kling on the App Store, opened October 21, 2026).

Seedance 2.5 output is 720p

Dreamina's model page advertises 4K for Seedance 2.5. The one reviewer DomoAI found who published both settings and price measured 720p, and every integration DomoAI could check capped 2.5 at 720p (DomoAI, August 10, 2026). DomoAI also reports that Seedance 2.0 is commonly offered up to 1080p and calls it the higher-fidelity path for anything finishing above 720p. A 2.5 clip finishes at 720p, or at 1080p after an upscale that adds pixels, not detail. A 2.0 clip can finish at a native 1080p.

Watermarks can stack

Dreamina's Seedance 2.5 page lists "Remove the Dreamina watermark in downloads" among paid-plan benefits, so every free download already carries one (Dreamina Seedance 2.5 page, opened October 21, 2026). CapCut has its own. Its help center says a mobile project containing items labeled Pro, including AI-generated clips, triggers a subscribe prompt at export, and if you cancel "you can still export, but with a CapCut watermark, even at 1080p" (CapCut Help, April 2, 2026). So a project that mixes clips from CapCut's AI Video panel with free Dreamina downloads can arrive with two logos. Staying free still means one logo at minimum, because the Dreamina mark is baked into each free clip.

Removing the logo does not make a clip anonymous. The east.im review reports that Dreamina adds a visible AI label, an invisible watermark and C2PA Content Credentials to the videos it makes.

CapCut's phone app cannot sell you credits

CapCut runs three credit types: subscription, activity and purchased, spent in that order. Purchased credits are sold "through in-app purchase or the CapCut website store (e.g., $4.99 for 100 credits)" and last two years. The mobile app shows your total balance but "does not support purchasing credits within the app" and hides per-batch expiry dates (CapCut Help, March 25, 2026). When the AI Video panel on the phone says you are out, the fix is to open CapCut in the phone's browser, buy there, and come back.

The model menu lags the website

The app's version notes name Seedance 2.0, while the website's picker lists Seedance 2.5, 2.0, 2.0 Mini, Sora 2 and Veo 3.1. If the shot needs 30 continuous seconds, generate it in the browser, download it to the phone, and import it into CapCut like any other clip.

CapCut's export gate flags AI clips

CapCut's export check looks for anything it labels Pro, so clips made in CapCut's own AI Video panel trigger the subscribe overlay. CapCut's help page lists AI-generated clips among Pro items; it does not say how imported clips are treated. If you pay for one app, pay for Dreamina: its clips are the video, and the paid plan removes its watermark. Then watch for the overlay at export.

How do you assemble and export in CapCut on the phone?

Drop the song in first, then cut clips to it, then export at 1080p 30 fps for vertical platforms. CapCut's phone editor has beat marking on the audio track, auto captions and keyframe animation, which is everything a music video edit needs. It cannot fix a clip that was wrong when generated, so the time goes into generation, not editing.

  1. New project, import the song from Files, and lock it as the bottom track.
  2. Tap the audio track and turn on beat detection so cut points snap to the grid. Our beat-sync editing guide covers the manual version when detection misses a downbeat.
  3. Import the Dreamina clips from Photos in shot order. Trim each to a beat boundary. An 8-second clip covers four bars at 120 BPM.
  4. Mute every clip's own audio. Seedance generates its own sound, and it will fight the track.
  5. Add captions only for lyric lines you want read, and proofread any auto-generated caption against your lyrics before export.
  6. Tap the resolution label next to Export, choose 1080p, then export. If a full-screen Pro overlay appears before the render starts, something in the timeline is flagged: cancel to export with a CapCut watermark, or subscribe.

When should you move to a laptop instead?

When the video is for a screen larger than a phone, or when you are buying credits often. Those hit the two walls the phone handles worst: export resolution and the credit purchase flow. A real face is not a reason to switch, because the photo block applies on every surface and Cast is announced as an app feature.

The laptop route gives you CapCut Desktop's 2K and 4K export (an upscale, if your clips are 1080p or lower), Dreamina's web picker with new models first, and CapCut's web credit dashboard, which shows expiry per batch. If you are only ever posting to TikTok, Reels and Shorts, none of that matters and an AI music video on your phone is the right call. If you are planning a YouTube release, make the clips on the phone when inspiration strikes, then finish on the desktop.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use Seedance 2.5 in the Dreamina phone app?+

Sometimes. The US App Store version notes name Seedance 2.0 and later say only that more models were added. Seedance 2.5 reached Dreamina on July 31, 2026, and rolls out by region, subscription and account, with the web app updating before the phone app. If the model picker in the app stops at 2.0, open dreamina.capcut.com in your phone's browser with the same login.

Does CapCut on a phone generate Seedance clips?+

Yes. The CapCut App Store listing says its AI Video feature supports Seedance, Veo 3 and other models, and the path is Media, then AI Video, then Text to Video or Image to Video. Model availability rolled out by country from March 2026. Clips generated there count as Pro content at export, so a free account gets a CapCut watermark on the finished video.

Why does the finished phone video look soft?+

Usually because the clips came from Seedance 2.5, which generates at 720p on Dreamina in practice despite 4K wording on the model page. CapCut's mobile export only offers 4K when your source clips are 4K, and a 720p clip exported at 1080p is upscaled, not sharper. Seedance 2.0 is commonly offered up to 1080p, so use it for shots that must look crisp.

How many credits does a full song need on Dreamina?+

At 8 seconds a shot, a three-minute song is about 22 clips before retakes. On Dreamina's Basic plan, $15 a month for 1,575 credits as of October 21, 2026, an 8-second 720p clip costs 296 credits on Seedance 2.5, 136 on Seedance 2.0 and 64 on Seedance 2.0 Mini, per Higgsfield's guide. Shooting everything on 2.5 needs about four months of Basic allowance; Mini fits in one.

Can I put my own face in a Seedance music video from my phone?+

Not by uploading a photo. Seedance rejects real-face reference images, a rule in place since February 2026, and resubmitting does not help. The Dreamina phone app has a separate Cast feature, powered by Seedance 2.0, where you record your own avatar. We have not tested whether Cast clips can be downloaded and cut to your own song. For a face from a photo, Kling accepts pictures of people.

Do I need a paid Suno plan to download the song?+

For commercial use, yes. Since September 3, 2026, Suno allows 7 lifetime trial downloads on Free for accounts created before September 3; newer free accounts may get occasional trial downloads and can buy them. Pro gets 20 a month and Premier 60. Trial downloads are personal use only; commercial rights apply to songs downloaded on a paid plan.
